Contributing to the Next Generation of AASHTOware Pavement Design Software!
Sam Bhat, M. Eng (Tech Mgt), MIGS and Titan CTO of Geosynthetics & Ahmed Ghazy, Ph.D, P.Eng., PMP, Research and Standards Engineer at City of Winnipeg, were recently invited by the ARA (Consulting Group for AASHTO ) to participate in the AASHTOware International Pavement ME Workshop/ discussion held in Washington DC.
AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design is the next generation of AASHTOWareยฎ pavement design software, which builds upon the mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide, and expands and improves the features in the accompanying prototype computational software.
What a great event and exciting insight into this cutting-edge technology and design methodologies!
A CASE STUDY IN HONOR OF AG DAY FEB 15tH
In a new barn build, the customer required a solution to slow down the release of gases that create unpleasant orders to help alleviate disturbances to neighbours. Our team worked with the customer and design engineer on material recommendations.
A combination of 40mil LLDPE SST and negative air pressure blowers were recommended and incorporated in this design to keep the cover tight to the interior of the lagoon. This eliminates the need for ballast and prevents displacement of the cover in windy conditions, creating a seal effect. Polypropylene blowers were used as they are the most resistant to gas corrosion and UVexposure while in service.
